Notes on Robotics Lecture 4/17/2025 (April 17, 2025)

-Robo Ethics Pt. 2

-Is it ethical to automate jobs with robots and AI?
-Robots can have the capability to do dangerous and dirty jobs, perhaps even better than humans
-Robots doing dangerous and dirty jobs would keep humans safe from danger and potentially benefit the health of humans

-Economic Growth
-This has the chance to go either way, negatively or positively
-Automation could make industries more efficient and have lower costs
-Even though there could be a loss of jobs where automation takes place, there still could being the opening of a new door that creates more jobs for the purpose of these Robots / AI
-Wealth equality could take a hit as company owners and investors could greatly benefit but not much for the worker
-In terms of well being, some workplace give people a sense of purpose and community, and taking this away make negatively affect a society's well being

-Could be ethical if workers are provided with retraining or education programs
-Carefully choose what jobs should not be automated - for example, jobs in human care for things such as therapy or emotional needs
-Basic sum: Robot Ethics is thinking about to use robots safely and fairly for society
